Wayne Gretzky, widely regarded as one of the greatest ever NHL players, was invited to Tottenham’s League Cup tie with Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 23rd September (2015).
The soccer/football club very kindly gave Gretzky a Spurs shirt with his name on it – expect is wasn’t actually The Great One’s name.
Whoever was placed in charge of printing the shirt had misspelt Gretzky’s name so it read ‘Gretsky’. We’re stunned that such a simple yet incredibly disrespect mistake could be made. Gretzky however classy as always was far too polite to point out the mistake before posing for a picture with Ledley Brenton King (former English footballer).
Tottenham uploaded a photo of them handing the shirt to Gretzky to Twitter before the tweet was swiftly taken down. We of course have the photo to share.
Safe to say this won’t help how hockey players view soccer. What do you think about this phenomenal mistake ?
