Ankle Guards or No Ankle Guards (Skate Fenders)
Why use them ? Reduce foot injuries
Ice Hockey Equipment Tip: Any hockey players that has taken a puck to the ankle while blocking a hard shot has surely thought about ankle guards. A few players have even been put off blocking shots due to this reason.
The main problem with ankle guards was that they were too heavy and bulky, which meant there was always the fear of them hindering or slowing down your performance (puts most players off). These days with all the modern developments that have taken place in ice hockey and protective gear for hockey, ankle guards are a fraction of the weight they used to be, I’d recommend them amongst other precisions, a lot of hockey skates on the market now have ankle guards features build into them (ask for more information)
